Your stylist: Lindsey O’Connell
TLDR version:
I love shopping
I have a gift in knowing what will look good on you
I search for and find great deals
I am a fantastic listener
The long version:
(you’re about to know me well!)
How did I get here working with wonderful women - curating the perfect (for her) closet?
I notice EVERYTHING!
This led me to choose my first career as a social worker. Remind me to tell you how when I moved to Maine after undergrad (Ole Miss) with a car full of sailing outfits because that’s what they do there, right? I looked adorable — 100 miles inland and on a first year social worker salary. No sailing. But I adored this work and was helping people, I hope! Lalala, moving on — met darling husband, completed grad school (South Carolina) — ooh remind me to tell you about this fun and well-intentioned presentation a classmate and I did for a class — social worker makeovers — you know look good, feel good! I maintain it was brilliant and topical and it was very poorly received. Ok, not everyone embraces this philosophy, but I stand by it, Amen. Lalala again, we start be-bopping around the country courtesy of the US Army, having babies, and my social work license became too complicated to maintain.
PIVOT: 11 years ago, while living in the DC area, I became quite adept at utilizing and maximizing the cast-off wardrobes the movers and shakers of our nation’s capital would u-haul to the charity shops and consignment stores. Finding such treasures (Chanel at the Goodwill, yes ma’am), friends and neighbors began asking me to find and style some of these gems for them. This gift (obsession) evolved into my first online boutique — My Secret Designer Closet. It took on many iterations over the years, on various platforms, but I’ve never strayed from delighting in helping someone find their perfect look. AND I got really really good at sourcing and authenticating designer pieces, some rare, some vintage (my favorite), and finding them loving homes where they will be adored and cherished.
And FINALLY, dear husband retired from service, we happily settled (forever, God willing) on the MS Gulf Coast, and here we are!.
Philosophy: Mine doesn’t matter, this is about you! I do have some general ideologies by which I abide:
New/Vintage; High/Low—we mix, we match, we choose what looks and feels good on you.
We do not waste money, always find the best deal; then sweet talk an even better deal.
Look good, feel good. But sometimes we wear our favorite sweatpants all week and that’s fine too.I do not affiliate with any brands or retailers, so we are free to find your favorites organically.
We are going to dress the body we are in right now and do it gloriously.
If that body changes one way or another, we will dress her with the same zip.
